Domestic Platform Work in the Middle East and North Africa

This report provides a comprehensive review of the domestic service sector in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region and highlights the challenges faced by domestic workers, particularly women and migrants, in terms of working and living conditions. The report aimed to address the question of whether digital labor platforms can improve working conditions in the household sector. The Turkish field of research carried out in Egypt, Turkey and Tunisia. Fairwork in collaboration with NHUMAN Consulting.

The report includes a detailed analysis of the socioeconomic context of housework and the evolution of digital labor platforms and their impact on employment and working conditions in this sector.

The overall aim of this study is to draw attention to the conditions in the often overlooked and informal household chores sector and to influence policy makers and platform managers.
